Religion affected astronomy, medicine, geography, agriculture, art, civil law, and virtually every aspect of Egyptian culture and civilization. Most aspects of Egyptian religion can be traced to the people's observation of the environment. Fundamental was the love of sunlight, the solar cycle and the comfort brought by the regular rhythms of nature, and the agricultural cycle surrounding the rise and fall of the Nile.
Some characteristics of the ancient Egyptian religion/belief system is faithful, strict, and trustworthy. These are some of the characteristics because the ancient Egyptians were very loyal, or faithful, to their religion. They always did anything they could to follow their religion, and they were very strict about it. If the Egyptians did something wrong in their religion, they would be punished. Also, in the "Book of the Dead," which had 42 "negative confessions," spells and prayers, the Egyptians had to be trustworthy which was a part of their belief, or else they would be punished.
Early ancient Egyptians built a pyramid which was assembled with six stepped layers of stone ( instead of mud-brick like earlier pyramids). Egyptian pyramids were built to protect the body of a deceased (dead) Pharaoh. This connects to the Egyptian religion/belief system because Egyptians believed that when the Pharaoh was alive, he represented Horus and when dead, he represented Osiris. When he was Osiris, he would set the sun, and the new Pharaoh (his son) when Horus would raise the sun.
